Message from the Team

  We have shown great unity in coming together to fight the legal challenge against the short sighted and callous change to permit free training brought into force in April 2006. We stood up to unfairness and injustice. This is a battle for principle and we are proud of what we have done. We are grateful to all those who have sent messages of support. We are unable to reply individually so please accept our heartfelt thanks.

  You have all been magnanimous in giving moral and financial support so that we could be represented by the best barrister in the land. We did everything correctly and fought the case well and are all highly disappointed by the verdict. But is this the time to give up??

  We believe that there has been miscarriage of justice. The judgement about individuals on HSMP is extremely surprising to say the least. Our legal advisors think that we can not give up this fight at this stage and we will prove that our nerves are made of steel.

  As the first benefit of appeal we have instructed our solicitors to arrange for an injunction so that the DOH has to keep the new immigration rules in abeyance for the MTAS process 2007 while we wait for the appeal results. Thus many doctors who have applied this time round will be spared the consequences of this unfair ruling.

  What about the resources? If we have 1000 doctors contributing 200 pounds each, we will have 200,000 pounds! We say contribute whatever you can. Career of thousands of doctors is at stake.

  We will ask for the appeal to be heard ASAP. The judge has already promised an early hearing. Thus we will have to collect the funds quickly.
